The Department is currently made up of 24 exceptional faculty members who are responsible for teaching professional level courses in three different colleges – the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Podiatric Medicine. The department has a strong teaching program and faculty members play a major role as educators and directors of multiple courses in the curricula of these three professional schools. They provide gross anatomy, microanatomy, embryology and neuroanatomy curriculum content at all three, as well as numerous elective courses in specialized areas to students at the School of Medicine.

• Diagnostic: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic hearing assessments and balance function testing to determine the nature and extent of patients' hearing and balance issues.

The Assistant Clinical Director for HSC provides basic primary medical care to students and manages clinical operations at the HSC campus. They assure that adequate, safe, and timely nursing and provider services are made available to all students. The Assistant Clinical Director participates in policy making and program planning for the HSC campus. They will be the primary liaison with the HSC Schools and Colleges. They assume overall responsibility for the medical clinical operations on the HSC campus. The Assistant Clinical Director will work collaboratively with the counseling center staff assigned to the HSC Health and Counseling Office.
Care is rendered primarily at the HSC campus but may be assigned to Main Campus. Saturday coverage is on Main Campus.
Essential Functions
- Participate in the recruitment of HSC Student Health staff.
- Supervision and performance evaluation of HSC Student Health staff.
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, assuring conformance with the appropriate University policies.
- Promoting health education and illness prevention initiatives on the HSC campus.
- Facilitate communication between HSC staff and departmental leadership.
- Function as Acting Director in the Clinical Director’s absence.
- Provides primary medical care to Temple University students; assess and manages students with acute episodic and chronic illness on an appointment and walk-in basis.
- Coordinates follow-up for patients.
- Provides medical oversight to HSC nursing and administrative staff.
- Assists in the development of medical and nursing protocols.
- Participates in SHS (Student Health Services) staff meetings (combined HSC and Main), quality improvement projects and committees as appropriate.
- Assists in the coordination of outreach in cooperation with other departments, when appropriate, for specific medical issues.
- Serves as the primary student orientation resource on the HSC campus.
- Works with the leaders of the HSC Schools and Colleges and is the primary Student Health contact for those Schools and Colleges.

The scope of clinical service will include but is not limited to outpatient office practice, inpatient consultative cardiology program, and noninvasive cardiac testing at the Jeanes/Fox Chase campus of Temple University Hospital. The Temple University Stroke program is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center that participates in the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Program and has consistently achieved Gold Plus and Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite status. It has an active program of clinical trials though its affiliation with STOKENET (NIH funded). The Stroke Service sees 800-1000 cerebrovascular related admissions per year; the formal stroke prevention clinic uses evidenced based guidelines for risk factor modification; and a Telestroke/Telemedicine network for acute stroke consults provides coverage to neighboring community and rural hospitals.

The Center for Microbiology and Immunology (CMI) at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) is accepting applications from qualified candidates doing basic and/or translational research within a field related to host-microbe interactions for a tenure-track microbiology and immunology faculty position at the Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor level. Center for Inflammation & Lung Research
The Center for Inflammation and Lung Research (CILR) is composed of basic, pre-clinical, translational and clinical researchers who are interested in the pathogenesis of lung disease, and other inflammatory disease states. Investigators in the CILR study both acute and chronic inflammatory disease using a combination of in vitro and animal model systems, as well as patients being seen by physicians in the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery. The Department of Emergency at Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) announces the search for a BC/BE emergency medicine physician for a two-year* administrative fellowship.
The administrative fellowship was designed for those with an interest in operations and administration who would like to take their leadership and administrative skills to the next level.
The selected physician will be appointed as a clinical instructor (adjunct) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. The administrative fellow will also work clinically in one or more of Temple’s emergency rooms and serve as an interim Assistant Medical Director at one of the TUHS emergency departments under the guidance of the ED Medical Directors and Fellowship Directors.
The administrative fellow also will complete one or more projects relating to departmental operations based on his or her areas of interest.

The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking a BE/BC cardiothoracic surgeon for the role of advanced fellowship for thoracic transplant, mechanical circulatory support and adult cardiac surgery with attending surgeon’s privileges.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Participate in heart and lung organ procurement and implantation including the screening, selection and follow up on cardiothoracic patients.
- Examine, diagnose, and surgically treat patients with end-stage cardiopulmonary diseases and cardiovascular patients.
- Participate in the management of patients in the ICU, Floor and Clinic in heart/lung transplantation service and cardiovascular surgery service and provide surgical treatments such as tracheostomy, reexploration of the chest, ECMO, etc. as needed.
- Must have ownership of patients’ outcomes, Morbidity and Mortality defined by STS and SRTR.

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at LKSOM has been serving the community for over 120 years and currently has 7 core faculty members who are based at its main site at the Temple University Health Sciences Campus and an extensive number of adjunct, associate and affiliate members in our community. The Department is known both for its partnerships and outreach programs with the North Philadelphia community within which it is imbedded and for its integrated community-health care programs that improve health and reduce cost of care.
Candidate Qualifications
• M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent
• Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency program in Family Medicine prior to start date
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine
• Ability to obtain an unrestricted DEA and medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date
• A strong interest in developing a vibrant clinical practice, medical education and clinical research; and sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community.
