The Center for Asian Health, Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will pursue a vibrant and externally funded research in areas of health disparities among diverse ethnic minority populations, as well as professional services and teaching/training. The competitive candidate for this position will be expected to function as a health disparity investigator and contribute to multidisciplinary team science. We seek candidates whose experiences in innovative population science research has prepared them to advance our mission and commitment to reducing health disparities in cancer, cardiovascular diseases or diabetes among Asian American Pacific Islanders, underserved and underrepresented racial/ethnic minority populations through cohort studies or behavioral interventions. Candidates should demonstrate strong potential to obtain external funding. Candidates with a track record of conducting innovative, interdisciplinary and collaborative research are preferred.   Qualifications: - PhD in a relevant discipline - Completion of 2-3 years of research-focused postdoctoral training with a specific research focus on health and health disparities among ethnic minority populations including Asian Americans - Multiple publications in peer-reviewed journal of high professional standing during the past 3 years - It is preferable that the candidates have experience with community-based research and grants writing and submission. This position seeks to identify extraordinary scholars from fields including but not limited to public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, kinesiology, psychology, geography, or related fields with a demonstrated track record of scholarly work in health disparities, population health, social and environmental epidemiology, and community health. Interdisciplinary researchers are strongly desired. The candidate should have expertise conducting health disparities research, including study design and methodology, data analysis, and dissemination of findings to various stakeholders. The candidate should have strong communication, writing, problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal strengths. Teaching interests must include health disparities, and health equity.   The candidate should ideally have significant experience conducting research that addresses social determinants of health that relate to the neighborhood and built environment, as well as social and community context and be able to apply these principles to intervention, community-based, epidemiological based studies conducted by the Center for Asian Health. Some examples of research areas include the neighborhood environment, access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities, racism, discrimination, and violence and how these relate to health outcomes and contribute to racial and ethnic health disparities. Expertise with data analysis and proficiency in software such as SAS and GIS is preferred. The candidate will be expected to secure extramural funding to conduct health disparities research that investigate social and environmental factors that lead to health disparities in health outcomes such as chronic disease, infectious diseases, and lifestyle behaviors.   The candidate will help advance the strategic plan and mission of the Center for Asian Health through reducing cancer and health disparities among diverse and underserved populations. The candidate will contribute to the interdisciplinary aspect of the center through their expertise in health disparities research but specifically providing unique expertise with macro social determinants of health. The Lewis Katz School of Medicine is seeking a BC/BE internist to join the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery in the role of nighttime hospitalist. Although an ideal opportunity for Internists looking to pursue thoracic medicine specialization in the near future, this interest and/or additional training is neither required nor expected. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position in Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry (CLP). The inpatient CLP service provides psychiatric consultation and follow up to Temple University Hospital a 515- bed, award-winning academic medical center with a wide variety of tertiary and quaternary programs. The team consists of two board-certified, nationally recognized attending faculty, psychiatry residents and medical students. Residents from other subspecialties also rotate on the service. PGY4 psychiatry residents participate in the TUH CLP inpatient administrative elective to further advanced clinical experience and master liaisons skills. The outpatient CLP service operates half a day a week treating and evaluating patients in collaboration with residents in the CL Psychiatry subspecialty track. The faculty attending will participate in the development and accreditation of a Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship (anticipated opening July 2023). The faculty attending will take weekend call evaluating consults at TUH with a 3rd year resident in a rotating basis averaging 1:19 weekends per year. The position requires a strong interest in teaching including bedside and didactic teaching and resident supervision. An interest in publishing or participating in research is preferred. The Department is also involved in collaborative, multidisciplinary research efforts throughout Lewis Katz School of Medicine. An interest in publishing, participating in research, or developing novel educational curricula is preferred but not required. The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is currently seeking BC/BE anesthesiologists with subspecialty training in anesthesia for cardiothoracic surgery for full-time faculty positions within the Temple Health System. We are particularly interested in dynamic individuals from diverse backgrounds and under-represented groups.   The anesthesiology department delivers care to patients in a variety of locations throughout the healthcare system including service at Temple University Hospital, Fox Chase Cancer Center and CT Anesthesiology at Jeanes Hospital.   The cardiac surgical service encompasses both the main Temple University Hospital campus as well as a secondary surgical site at Jeanes Hospital.   In addition to traditional revascularization and open valve surgery, a significant number of patients are treated each year with percutaneous valve placements, endovascular stent procedures, pulmonary thromboendarterectomies, VAD placements, total artificial heart support, and heart and / or lung transplantation. Currently Temple is one of the busiest lung transplant centers in the northeastern United States completing roughly 120 transplants per year. A similar number of patients are treated annually with ECMO for either surgical or medical indications. Duties of new faculty will include patient care, teaching of medical students and residents, and supervision of CRNAs. Critical Care Anesthesiologists – Temple Health – Philadelphia, PA   The Department of Anesthesiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking qualified candidates for several outstanding Faculty Opportunities at one of Philadelphia's leading and fastest growing academic medical centers.   Position Specifics • Busy inpatient and outpatient procedural anesthetic service • Resident / CRNA supervision 85%, Own cases 15% • Anesthetic support to 63 locations daily across three campuses – Temple University Hospital, Temple-Jeanes Campus and Fox Chase Cancer Center • Case mix includes: trauma, vascular, transplants, orthopedic and neurosurgical cases • Large volume of complex cardiac cases, including the region’s busiest lung transplant program and the largest PTE referral center in the Eastern US • Critical Care coverage for the Neurosurgical and Trauma / Surgical ICU • Participate in bedside teaching / didactics / simulations for residents and medical students • Opportunities to conduct clinical research   Candidate Qualifications • M.D., D.O. or Foreign equivalent • Academic credentials suitable to the faculty appointment sought – positions available for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor • In possession of or eligible to receive and unrestricted medical license for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
