The Department of Biomedical Education and Data Science at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine in Philadelphia is accepting applications for a full-time non-tenure-track Physiology Faculty opportunity.   The Department is currently made up of 24 exceptional faculty members who are responsible for teaching professional level courses in three different colleges – the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Podiatric Medicine. Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University seeks qualified candidates for Associate Director of HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory. The HLA/Immunogenetics laboratory supports the Lung (during the last several years, ranked number one in the US), Heart, Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas transplant programs at Temple University Hospital (TUH) and the Bone Marrow transplant program at Jeanes Hospital. The laboratory also provides HLA disease and hypersensitivity associations and platelet transfusion support at TUH, Jeanes, and Fox Chase Cancer Center. The laboratory is a close-knit team staffed by ten technologists, a sample processing technologist, a manager, a Director, and an Associate Director, who work together to provide HLA testing, including 24/7 stat on-call coverage. They perform high- and low-resolution HLA molecular typing, HLA antibody identification, and virtual and cell-prospective and retrospective Flow T and B cell crossmatches. Temple Health/Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM), Department of Emergency Medicine is accepting applications from skilled, committed, BC/BE emergency medicine physicians interested in joining the team as faculty.     LKSOM's Department of Emergency Medicine supports the LKSOM William Maul Measey Institute for Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety, the Global Medicine programs, the Temple Transport Team, Ultrasound education within the medical school and hospital, and the Pre-Clinical Doctoring program. Researchers within the department have been awarded multiple NIH grants for neurological critical care and emerging infectious disease. . It is staffed by 55 board-certified emergency medicine physicians and has 42 emergency medicine residents. The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple University Health System is seeking a BC/BE Surgical Pathologist and Cytopathologist to join its dynamic faculty.   The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in general surgical pathology and cytopathology in an environment that has provided the opportunity to experience a wide spectrum of gross and microscopic examination of resected surgical specimens, as well as biopsies. Candidates with niche interest in GI, Breast, Head & Neck or related areas is desirable. Qualified candidate who can contribute through their research, teaching and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic mission of the department are also preferable.   The Department of Pathology receives over 22,000 surgical specimens, (excluding nearly 7,000 oral specimens), 3500 cytology specimens, 100 autopsies, and performs over 2.2 million laboratory tests in a typical year. Special diagnostic testing includes immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, advanced molecular diagnostics, electron microscopy, and whole slide imaging. The Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) is seeking an organized, efficient, and effective data-driven leader with solid knowledge and experience related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The primary role of the Associate Dean will be to direct diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts for the internal environment at the LKSOM, including students, faculty, and staff. This will include drafting a strategic plan, oversight of a Diversity Committee to advise the work, and close collaboration with other relevant offices and the LKSOM Dean. This is a new, full time position, reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean, OHEDI.   The Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will have responsibility for guiding efforts to conceptualize, define, assess, nurture, and cultivate diversity as an institutional and educational resource through: - Developing an LKSOM Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan with invested student, faculty, and staff stakeholders. This plan should include measurable benchmarks for recruitment and retention, specific goals for monitoring and improving culture, inclusivity, and belonging, and specific goals for supporting underrepresented students and faculty. - Coordinating the work of a Diversity Committee for LKSOM to inform the Office’s work and update the strategic plan. - Providing the LKSOM Dean with a report each year regarding progress and updates to the strategic plan. - Defining goals for DEI at all levels, including target priority populations (i.e., define the LKSOM’s goals regarding inclusion of students/faculty with marginalized identities and define target demographics). - Partnering closely with the Office of Student Support to develop and implement a plan to support underrepresented students during medical school. - Partnering closely with the Office of Faculty Affairs to develop and implement a plan to support underrepresented faculty in promotion, tenure, retention, and belonging. - Collaborating with the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education to develop and maintain an inclusive and bias-free curriculum. - Collaborating with the Office of Physician/Faculty Recruitment and Retention on diversity recruitment strategies, including strategic sourcing, outreach, and participation in diversity recruitment-related conferences and events. - Developing pipeline programs for underrepresented students from elementary school, high school, and college to increase URM medical school diversity. The Opportunity The Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) at Temple University invites applications and nominations for Senior Associate Dean for Education (SADE). The Department of Pediatrics at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven leader to be Chief, Section of Ambulatory Pediatrics.   The ideal candidate will boast a track record of academic excellence, a deep commitment to patient care, proficiency in teaching, and scholarly productivity in clinical research. The Department of Urban Health and Population Science at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) at Temple University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position within the Center for Asian Health. The successful candidate will pursue a vibrant and externally funded research in areas of health disparities among diverse ethnic minority populations, as well as professional services and teaching/training. The competitive candidate for this position will be expected to function as a health disparity investigator and contribute to multidisciplinary team science.  We seek candidates whose experiences in innovative population science research has prepared them to advance our mission and commitment to reducing health disparities in cancer, cardiovascular diseases or diabetes among Asian American Pacific Islanders, underserved and underrepresented racial/ethnic minority populations through cohort studies or behavioral interventions.  Candidates should demonstrate strong potential to obtain external funding. Candidates with a track record of conducting innovative, interdisciplinary and collaborative research are preferred.   Qualifications: - PhD in a relevant discipline - Completion of 2-3 years of research-focused postdoctoral training with a specific research focus on health disparities among ethnic minority populations including Asian Americans - Multiple publications in peer-reviewed journal of high professional standing during the past 3 years - Experience with research grants writing, submission and funding preferred. The candidate should ideally have significant experience conducting research that addresses social determinants of health that relate to the neighborhood and built environment, as well as social and community context and be able to apply these principles to interventions, community-engaged, epidemiological based studies conducted by the Center for Asian Health. Some examples of research areas include the neighborhood environment, access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities, racism, discrimination, and violence and how these relate to health outcomes and contribute to racial and ethnic health disparities. The candidate will be expected to secure extramural funding to conduct health disparities research that investigate social and environmental factors that lead to health disparities in health outcomes such as cancer, chronic disease, infectious diseases, and lifestyle behaviors. Provides general health care to adolescent and adult patients, including assessing and treating a wide variety of conditions, ailments, and injuries, under direction of the Clinical Director. The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University seeks a cardiothoracic surgeon with a particular interest in lung and heart transplantation. The successful candidate will preferably have at least five years of adult cardiothoracic surgery experience. Experience in lung and heart transplantation will be a plus.  Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient care in cardiovascular surgery service, rounding in the ICU and other inpatient units, organ procurement, heart and lung transplants, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), left ventricular assist device (LVAD), and a wide variety of cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures.    Over the past several years, the Division has experienced significant clinical and academic growth in all subspecialty areas and continues to expand its services regionally and nationally. The program performs high-quality lung and heart transplantation surgery, mechanical circulatory and respiratory support, off-pump and on-pump coronary artery bypass, valve repair, and replacement, including Ross procedure, aortic surgery, transcatheter valve, and aortic repair/replacement.  The new faculty member will benefit from the mentorship of the experienced and accomplished faculty.
