Summary of Position

The Aging + Cardiovascular Discovery Center (ACDC) in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking candidates for tenure-track faculty positions in the basic and clinical sciences with a focus on cardiovascular health and disease, neuroscience, metabolism, and/or aging. Qualified early-career applicants seeking opportunities at the Assistant Professor level, as well more experienced candidates interested in pursuing an Associate Director role are encouraged to apply.

 

The ACDC provides a vibrant and stimulating research environment, and we welcome applicants who are driven to discover fundamental mechanisms of cardiovascular and brain health. The ACDC was founded in 2023 under the direction of Dr. John Elrod, following the merger of the Center for Translational Medicine and Cardiovascular Research Center. The ACDC faculty have a track record of scientific accomplishment and successfully mentoring the next generation of scientists. Its multi-disciplinary research interests span several areas including vascular, cardiac, lung, neurodegeneration, development, and metabolic pathophysiology. Collegiality and collaboration are foundational to the center’s success with two current NHLBI project program grants and several co-PI awards. Temple’s ACDC occupies more than 30,000 sq ft of open lab space on the 9th and 10th floor of a state-of-the-art research building. The center has cutting edge equipment available for all faculty including an outstanding genomics core, imaging facility, metabolomics expert, and mutant mouse and surgical core. The successful candidates’ research portfolios will complement and synergize with ongoing basic, translational, and clinical research programs in the LKSOM and Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University. Academic appointments are available at all levels based on qualifications.

Job Qualifications: PhD, M.D., MD/PhD or equivalent degree and a strong academic record. Only high-impact scientists with robust research programs and a track-record of acquiring fellowship funding will be considered for this position.
