Summary of Position

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple University Health System is seeking a full time Surgical Pathologist.

 

The applicant must have an MD / DO degree and be board certified / eligible in AP. Areas of interest / training, include but are not limited to GI, thoracic pathology, Gynecologic Pathology, GU, Breast, ENT and Soft Tissue Pathology.

 

The Department of Pathology receives over 21,000 surgical specimens, (excluding nearly 7,000 oral specimens), 3500 cytology specimens, 100 autopsies, and performs over 2.2 million laboratory tests in a typical year. Special diagnostic testing includes immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, advanced molecular diagnostics, electron microscopy, and whole slide imaging. Modern research laboratories are equipped for tissue culture, real-time PCR, techniques for advanced protein detection, laser confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular biology.

Candidate Qualifications
• Applicants should be an M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent with board certification or board eligibility in Anatomic Pathology.
• Candidates who are board-eligible will be expected to complete their boards within the first year of hire.
• Completion of a fellowship in a niche area is desirable.
• Must be able to obtain medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date.
