The Opportunity

The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, in partnership with AtlantiCare, seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and visionary physician leader to serve as Associate Dean of the AtlantiCare Campus.

This senior leadership position serves as the primary representative of the Office of the Dean at the regional campus and is responsible for the academic, clinical, administrative, and operational success of undergraduate medical education programs delivered in southeastern New Jersey. The Associate Dean will lead efforts to ensure a high-quality, innovative, and fully integrated educational experience that aligns with institutional priorities, student success initiatives, and Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards.

 

The Associate Dean will work closely with senior leadership at both Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine and AtlantiCare to strengthen regional campus growth, faculty engagement, learner experience, and community partnerships while advancing the mission of academic medicine.

 

Specific Responsibilities

The Associate Dean will:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the AtlantiCare regional campus. 
  • Oversee undergraduate medical education, curriculum delivery, and clinical training activities. 
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Partner with faculty and institutional leadership to support educational excellence and faculty engagement. 
  • Oversee campus operations, staffing, infrastructure, and resource management.
  • Support student recruitment, advising, wellness, and learner experience initiatives. 
  • Foster collaboration between the regional and main campuses. 
  • Develop strategic relationships with clinical affiliates and community partners. 
  • Participate in teaching, academic initiatives, and institutional leadership activities. 
  • Serve as an ambassador for Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and AtlantiCare.

Educational Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

The Associate Dean of the AtlantiCare Campus must possess an MD or DO degree and demonstrate significant leadership experience in undergraduate medical education, academic medicine, and/or healthcare administration. The successful candidate must qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Board certification in any clinical specialty is required. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of LCME accreditation standards, curriculum oversight, faculty engagement, and regional campus operations, along with demonstrated success leading collaborative educational and operational initiatives within a complex academic healthcare environment.

 

Key Relationships

The Associate Dean of the AtlantiCare Campus reports to Senior Associate Dean of Education, Katz School of Medicine and AtlantiCare Chief Physician Executive. The Associate Dean collaborates closely with senior educational leadership, department chairs, course and clerkship directors, graduate medical education leadership as well as clinical leadership, faculty, students, residents, and community partners. The Associate Dean also supervises regional campus administrative and educational support personnel.
