Summary of Position

The Alzheimer’s Center (ACT) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking qualified candidates for the role of scientist for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, whose research program investigates mechanisms and/or therapeutic targets for Alzheimer's disease (AD), brain aging, dementias and AD-related disorders (ADRD).

 

ACT is interested in qualified applicants who will have expertise related to one or more of the following: Neurobiology of aging and AD/ADRD, including animal models and/or cell culture systems
Histopathology, biochemical analysis, biomarkers, or translational studies, including human non-human samples, or Omics approaches in brain aging or dementias.

 

The Alzheimer’s Center at Temple occupies space in the Medical Education and Research Building, a new state-of-the-art building dedicated to basic and clinical research and medical education. This position will complement and synergize with ongoing basic and clinical research programs within the Departments of Neural Sciences (including the Center for Substance Abuse Research and the Center for Neural Development and Repair) and Neurology.

Candidate Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree
  • Possess academic credentials that would support academic appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor.
  • Candidates should have an established research program; independent or pathway to independence funding from NIH and/or private foundations
  • Strong academic record in the biology of neurodegenerative diseases or neuroscience with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Candidates will have a proven track record of consistent publications in high-impact journals. 
  • Applicants to this research-intensive position are expected to devote primary efforts to performing creative, high-impact studies supported by extramural funding
