Summary of Position

Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University seeks qualified candidates for Director of its HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory.

The HLA/Immunogenetics laboratory supports the Lung (during the last several years, ranked number one in the US), Heart, Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas transplant programs at Temple University Hospital (TUH) and the Bone Marrow transplant program at Jeanes Hospital. The laboratory also provides HLA disease and hypersensitivity associations and platelet transfusion support at TUH, Jeanes, and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The laboratory is a close-knit team staffed by nine technologists and a manager who work together to provide HLA testing, including 24/7 stat on-call coverage.  They perform low and high resolution (NGS) HLA molecular typing, HLA antibody identification, C1Q, AT1R, Engraftment Monitoring NGS Chimerism and virtual and cell-prospective and retrospective Flow T and B cell crossmatches.  They also collaborate to monitor the HLA antibody status of patients, pre- and post-transplant, and provide an estimate of the risk of antibody-mediated rejection for organ offers to sensitized and transplanted patients.
