Summary of Position

Temple Health/Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM), Department of Emergency Medicine is accepting applications from skilled, committed, BC/BE emergency medicine physicians interested in joining the team as faculty.  

 

LKSOM's Department of Emergency Medicine supports the LKSOM William Maul Measey Institute for Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety, the Global Medicine programs, the Temple Transport Team, Ultrasound education within the medical school and hospital, and the Pre-Clinical Doctoring program. Researchers within the department have been awarded multiple NIH grants for neurological critical care and emerging infectious disease. . It is staffed by 55 board-certified emergency medicine physicians and has 42 emergency medicine residents. Our EM faculty covers three distinct clinical sites: Temple University Hospital (TUH) – Main Campus, a level 1 Trauma Center; the busy inner city emergency department at TUH - Episcopal Campus; and TUH - Jeanes Campus located in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia. All sites are part of the EM residency program and medical student experience so candidates should have a strong interest in clinical teaching. Clinical time distribution will be matched to the candidate’s interest and qualifications in regards to staffing needs at each. Candidate Qualifications

  • M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine prior to start date
  • Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted DEA and medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date
  • A strong commitment to resident and medical student education
  • Sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community
  • Prior experience or training in an urban level 1 trauma center preferred but, not required
